About Us

Welcome to Chapeltown Youth Development Centre, is a forward looking and ambitious youth organisations whose sole purpose of is to make an effective difference in young peoples lives. CYDC is a vibriant and dynamic organisation, staffed by a large pool of dedicated volunteers. It provides a range of sports and education activities for young people aged 4 - 19.

Chapeltown Youth Development Centre is situated in the spacious grounds of the Prince Philip Centre just off Scotthall Road in north east Leeds. With a range of facilities, it also has the ideal location to provide positive activities for young people to develop. The centre is sited away from traffic and other distractions familiar to those who live in inner city environments such as Chapeltown.

The ultimate objective is to help provide disadvantaged young people with every opportunity to fulfil their potential a ambitions. We strongly encourage and support educational development.  Our long term aim is to provide the training, resources and support so that young people of all backgrounds can participate at the highest level possible in whatever field they choose. This may be sports, education and training activities, the arts and creative sector, ora meaningful activity that may lead to a profession or a future career.

Our way of achieving our aims is through regular training sessions and by facilitating workshop that would challenge negative attitudes and influence a change in behaviour.

 

Management

CYDC is run by a Management Board elected at the Annual General Meeting, which consist of 8 members. The main officials in the Management Board are the Chairperson, the Vice Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary, Child Protection Officer and Coaching Coordinator.  The organisation is administered ocording to its written constitution and its charitable purposes. The Management Board also oversee the implimentation of its Safeguarding policies with the Child Protection Officer having the direct responsibility to ensure it is adhered to by everyone in the organisation.

Training

Chapeltown Youth Development Centre is an accreditated centre for nationally recognised training courses such as FA Level 1 and 2 qualification for those who want to become football coaches. It can also deliver Sports Leaders Awards in a variety of sports. In addition young people can complete an OCN qualification in Motorbike Maintainance whist learning how to ride a motorbike safely.
